Bus stops
When taking small buses in China, it doesn't seem all that uncommon for the bus to stop at some random place for some unexplained transaction. The first case was the bus from Kunming to Dali. The driver stopped and picked up some piece of paper in the middle of the route. Okay, nothing odd, maybe some official bus driver business. The next time on the way to LuGuHu, just as we passed another bus going in the opposite direction, our bus stops in the middle of the road and one of the passengers says, "getting clothes," and hops out of the bus. He gets a bag of clothes out from the back of the other bus and returns to our bus with it. No one says anything and we continue on our way.

reminds me of my instructor for the behind-the-wheel course I took before getting my driver's license. we'd drive for a while then stop at some random place where he'd get out and run his errand.
