Job Creation

I don't know if I have talked about this before, but there are a ton of jobs here that look like they were created just so another person could have a job. For example, the people breaking up the sidewalk with hammers and the people clearing the snow in Beijing with brooms. In my friends' apartment building, a woman stands in the elevator for 12 hours a day pushing buttons. It's always a bit awkward because I see her every day and I've run out of comments about the weather and about her work.
